  1. not gonna lie, this is pretty much my go-to outfit when i don’t know what to wear.

thigh his are one of the most genius clothing items ever created.  they make me feel like i’m wearing pants, when i’m not.

god, i am so profound right now.

Forever 21 bowler hat, Splendid top, Topshop shorts, American Apparel thigh his, MbMJ shoes, Banana Republic bag

  2. 1. FYF Fest was so awesome! Ted Leo obviously blew me away. he and The Pharmacists played the best, tightest set i’ve ever seen. i’m officially a fan for life. The Rapture and Titus Andronicus were also amazing, but Delorean was a disappointment. sad.

    2. this is the dress i got tailored! it fits really well because Gary’s legit. too bad it got hella dirty in the dust storm at FYF, and i’m gonna have to get it drycleaned now.

vintage denim vest, H&M dress (custom tailored), Minnetonka booties, Banana Republic bag

  3. this outfit is actually from a couple weeks back, when i was home in the bay.

i was hesitant to post it because I didn’t get a chance to take a proper photo of it, but seriously, it was too good to pass up. i felt amazing, ridiculous, and confident in it.

can you see how i’m super influenced by Betsey Johnson lately?

Banana Republic cardigan, Uniqlo dress[, vintage sandals]

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - The Mighty Sparrow

i was hella into music during my middle and high school days.  all i did was sit and listen to my Sony cd player, and later my first iPod.  i knew everything about every artist i loved.  and who ruled my playlists?  male vocalists who led punk rock bands.

as i’ve grown older, some of the bands i used to listen to have lost cred.  either that, or the tastes of my friends and me have evolved to the point where punk is dead.

i recently discovered Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, who give hope to the young, punk rock girl deep inside me.  Ted Leo makes music that a girl entering her twenties can respectably rock out to.  Ted Leo, thank you for existing and allowing me to discover you.  i can’t wait to see you at FYF Fest this weekend.

  5. alterations

i just dropped off a dress at Gary’s Custom Tailoring & Boutique.  the dress was knee-length, and i’m getting it altered so that it’s shorter in the front while retaining the original length in the back.  i’ve always been fond of dresses that have this type of hem for their magical, mermaid-like feel.

i bought the dress for $10, and the alterations are costing me $30.  it sounds ridiculous, but it’s probably rational.  i think i’ll wear the dress often, now that it’s a flattering length for my petite frame.

Gary wasn’t impatient like most tailors i’ve visited.  he knew that this would be a challenge and wanted to make sure i would be happy with the end result.  he had me try the dress several times and cut it while i waited.  plus, he called me “sweetheart.”  super cute!  Gary’s great, and i can’t wait to pick up the dress thursday with the hem completed.

  6. this bowler hat is becoming my new obsession. i won’t disclose exactly how many hours i’ve been wearing it around my apartment, but i will say that it appears to be the perfect way to top off my sweatpants.

it also happens to be a really great thing to wear to sushi dinner and Yogurtland.

Forever 21 hat, American Apparel slip (worn as top), H&M skirt, London Sole flats, MbMJ bag

  7. Look like a girl, act like a lady, think like a woman, and work like a BOSS.

  8. snapped this photo quickly this morning before i ventured to the flea market at Dodger stadium. i had work today so i wasn’t able to peruse, but i did pick up a gorgeous Syroco mirror that will be hanging in my room soon. i’m in love with it.

i think it’s a sign of old age that i’m enjoying decorating my home.

vintage/DIY Motley Crue sleeveless top, Silence + Noise bra, Pac Sun jeans, Forever 21 wedges

  9. when you find something that works, you stick to it. i guess that’s why i’m all over these disco pants! though ridiculously unforgiving, they’re the bottoms i feel most comfortable in lately. today i rocked them à la United Airlines stewardess.

visited the new Santa Monica Place for the first time. it’s a gorgeous and expensive mall. opted to walk further down the Promenade to my go-tos. thanks to the cashier at F21 for the compliments on my look!

Martin + Osa top, American Apparel disco pants, London Sole flats, MbMJ bag

  10. a version of this photo exists that was taken in focus and with flash, but this one, i think, captures the feeling of this adventure a lot better.

taken on the way home from a kickback that was ridiculously far away. seriously, who walks two miles, across campus, to sit around watching Top Chef on mute with people you don’t know? i do, apparently.

Hollister tank, American Apparel disco pants(!), Stuart Weitzman sandals, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag
